Stewart B. McKinney National Wildlife Refuge (Westbrook)

Stewart B. McKinney NWR is comprised of eight parcels of land that are stretched across Connecitcut's shoreline. The headquarters is located approximately 45 minutes south of Hartford and 30 minutes east of New Haven in Westbrook, CT.

Northfield Brook Lake (Thomaston)

Northfield Brook Lake is a scenic day use park with a swim beach, horseshoe pits, picnic shelters, tables and fire grills located throughout the park. The 1.7-mile-long self-guided hiking trail winds throughout the park.

Thomaston Dam (Thomaston)

Vista picnic area offers visitors an excellent view of the dam and portions of the Naugatuck River Valley. The streamside environment is popular for fishing, hunting, trail bike riding and snowmobiling.

Black Rock Lake (Thomaston)

Located next to Black Rock State Park, the project is crossed by a portion of the Mattatuck Trail. The 21-acre lake is stocked with trout by the State.

Colebrook River Lake (Riverton)

A 750-acre lake is used as a standby water supply, and is available seasonally for fishing and boating. The lake is stocked with trout. A large boat ramp is available.

The project includes a shallow 40-acre lake and streamside environment good for canoeing, fishing and hunting.

Hop Brook Lake (Middlebury)

Hop Brook Lake is a popular day use park with swimming and picnicking facilities, athletic fields, picnic shelters and over 7 miles of hiking trails winding through the woods and fields. Canoes, sailboards and rowboats are welcome on the 21-acre lake.

Mansfield Hollow Lake (MANSFIELD CENT)

A popular day-use park is managed by the State around a 450-acre lake. A large picnic area and playfields serve as a nucleus to miles of hiking and cross-country skiing trails. Boat ramp provided. Hunting and fishing opportunities available.

West Thompson Lake (North GrosvenordaleROSVENORD)

Excellent camping (seasonal) in a rustic campground with wooded sites near 200-acre lake. Modern bathroom with hot showers, trailer dump station and resident campground attendants.
