Lock and Dam 9 is one of eight major river facilities located along the scenic river banks of the Allegheny River. Pool 9 is used mostly during the summer recreational boating season, since there are public and private launching facilities along the river.
Locks And Dam 2 - Monongahela River (Braddock)
Locks and Dam 2 is one of nine navigation structures which provide for year-round navigation on the Monongahela River between Pittsburgh, Pa. and Fairmont, West Virginia. It maintains a pool for 12.6 miles upstream to Locks and Dam 3 at Elizabeth, PA. Locks and Dam 2 is located at river mile 11.2 at the city of Braddock, Pa. The lock chambers and operations buildings are situated along the right bank of the river adjacent to a major steel-making plant.
Gray's Landing Locks And Dam (Masontown)
Grays Landing Lock and Dam replaced Lock and Dam 7. It consists of one lock chamber and a fixed-crest dam.
Prompton Lake (Prompton)
A 526-acre project, having a 290-acre lake. Except for a single boat launch, there is no Corps-operated recreation. Swimming is not permitted. Boating is permitted, although there is a 10-hp limit. Picnicking and hiking are available, as is hunting, in season, on adjacent PA Game Commission-managed lands. Majority of land surrounding the lake is owned by the Commonwealth of PA, and is designated as Prompton State Park. Presently undeveloped.
Conemaugh River Lake (Saltsburg)
An endowment of historic resources, added to recreational opportunities, attracts visitors to Conemaugh River Lake. Only a short drive from Pittsburgh, Conemaugh River Lake is rich in history. Primary sites of historical interest include traces of The Pennsylvania Mainland Canal and sections of the 1864 and 1907 railroads. The Pennsylvania Game Commission leases 7, 000 acres of land around the lake for wildlife management and hunting.
Kinzua Dam And Allegheny Reservoir (Warren)
Totally surrounded by forest, Kinzua Dam and Allegheny Reservoir are the heart of one of the largest and most popular outdoor recreation complexes in the northeastern United States. The Allegheny Reservoir spans the border between Pennsylvania and New York. In Pennsylvania , the reservoir is completely surrounded by the Allegheny National Forest; and in New York by Allegany State Park and the Allegany Indian Reservation of the Seneca Nation.

Delaware National Scenic River (Bushkill)
The section of the Delaware River that is designated the Middle Delaware National Scenic River is 40 miles long and is contained completely within Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, a unit of the National Park system. The Middle Delaware National Scenic River is administered by the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.

John Heinz at Tinicum National Wildlife Refuge (Philadelphia)
The John Heinz NWR at Tinicum is located in Philadelphia and Delaware Counties, Pennsylvania about 1 mile from Philadelphia International Airport. The refuge was established by an act of Congress in 1972 to protect the largest remaining freshwater tidal marsh in Pennsylvania; approximately 200 acres. When acquisition is complete, it will consist of 1200 acres of varied habitats.
Beltzville Lake (Lehighton)
Beltzville Lake is a 3, 600-acre project, having a 947-acre lake. The Corps operates and maintains the dam and a small visitor center. Recreation is managed under a lease agreement with the PA Bureau of State Parks, which provides swimming, boating, water-skiiing, fishing, hiking, hunting in season and other outdoor activities at Beltzville State Park. Fossils of early marine life are found in outcropping in project area.
Blue Marsh Lake (Leesport)
Blue Marsh Lake is a Philadelphia District project designed to provide flood control, water supply and enhanced water quality. It offers extensive recreational opportunities and attracts over a a million visitors yearly. Facilities include a day use area with swim beach, bathhouse, food concession, picnic areas, volleyball courts, pavilions available for rental; visitor center; three boat launches; and a stilling basin.
Francis E Walter Dam (White Haven)
Francis E. Walter Dam - An 1, 800-acre project, having a small 80 acre reservoir but no Corps-operated recreation facilities. There is a boat launch area (no ramp), although there is a 10 hp limit. Swimming is not permitted. Picnicking, hiking and fishing are available, as is hunting, in season, on adjacent PA Game Commission lands. Whitewater rafting is also available downstream.
Crooked Creek Lake (Ford City)
A wide variety of recreational facilities can be found at the Corps-operated lake, including a large beach. There is good hunting in the area.Crooked Creek Rangers developed the Corps' first Auto Tour Trail. The trail takes in the local history of Armstrong County and local townships. Visitors are provided information on the one room schools of 1867, the first water-powered sawmill and depreciation lands awarded soldiers of the American Revolutionary War.
East Branch Clarion River Lake (Wilcox)
Nestled in the upper reaches of the scenic Clarion River Valley, the glistening waters of East Branch Clarion River Lake provide the ideal setting for numerous outdoor recreational opportunities including boating, hunting, fishing, and camping.
Loyalhanna Lake (Saltsburg)

Allegheny National Forest (Warren)
You'll find many recreation opportunities here, including swimming, fishing, boating, water skiing, hiking and camping, and leisurely scenic drives. Dirt bikers, ATVers, cross country skiers, mountain bikers and snowmobilers will love the loop trails that wind throughout the hills. Foot trails ranging from one half mile interpretive trails, to the 87 mile North Country National Scenic Trail, traverse the terrain.
Erie National Wildlife Refuge (Guys Mills PA 16327)
Erie National Wildlife Refuge is located in Crawford County, 35 miles south of the City of Erie and 10 miles east of Meadville on the outskirts of Guys Mills village. The refuge consists of two separate land units. The Sugar Lake Division, containing 5, 206 acres, is the unit closest to Guys Mills. The Seneca Division, containing 3, 571 acres, is 10 miles north of the Sugar Lake Division and borders French Creek near Cambridge Springs.

Upper Delaware Scenic & Recreational River (Beach Lake)
As a part of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System, Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River stretches 73.4 miles (118.3 km) along the New York-Pennsylvania border. The longest free-flowing river in the Northeast, it includes riffles and Class I and II rapids between placid pools and eddies. Public fishing and boating accesses are provided, although most land along the river is privately owned. Wintering bald eagles are among the wildlife that may be seen here.

Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site (Gallitzin)
The Allegheny Portage Railroad was the first railroad constructed over the Allegheny Mountains. This inclined plane railroad operated between 1834-1854 and was considered a technological wonder in its day and played a critical role in opening the interior of the United States to trade and settlement. Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site is located in southwestern Pennsylvania approximately 12 miles west of Altoona. Today's park covers 1249 acres.

Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area (Bushkill)
This park preserves 40 miles of the middle Delaware River and almost 70, 000 acres of land along the river's New Jersey and Pennsylvania shores. At the south end of the park, the river cuts eastward through the Appalachian Mountains at the scenic Delaware Water Gap. A one-day auto tour of the park can include waterfalls, rural scenery, and historic Millbrook Village. Visitors can also canoe, hike, camp, swim, picnic, bicycle, crosscountry ski, and horseback ride.
Fort Necessity National Battlefield (Farmington)
Colonial troops commanded by 22 year old Colonel George Washington were defeated in this small stockade at the "Great Meadow". This opening battle of the French and Indian War began a seven year struggle between Great Britain and France for control of North America. Great Britain's success in this war helped pave the way for the American Revolution. Fort Necessity National Battlefield is located in the mountains of southwestern Pennsylvania, about 11 miles east of Uniontown.
Friendship Hill National Historic Site (Point Marion)
Friendship Hill National Historic Site preserves the country estate of Albert Gallatin, a Swiss emigrant who served his adopted nation during the early years of the republic. Gallatin is best remembered for his thirteen year tenure as Secretary of the Treasury during the Jefferson and Madison administrations. In that time he reduced the national debt, purchased the Louisiana Territory and funded the Lewis & Clark exploration.
Gettysburg National Military Park (Gettysburg)
