Scattered reservoirs offergood to excellent trout fishing in a landscape that at first seems alien to that experience. It is the place where antelope and wildhorses roam, as well as offering respite to millions of migratory birds at the Warner Wetlands. The resource area provides apublic collecting area for the Oregon State gemstone, the sunstone, and the largest inland sand dune system in the northwest.The Lost Forest contains a distinct stand of ponderosa pine isolated by forty miles of desert from the nearest typical pine foresthabitat.

Directions

The overlook is located approximately 19 miles northeast of the town of Plush, on County Road 3-12. The last 5 miles are maintained gravel, with 1 mile of steep grade and exposure. Brochures of the byway and maps of the area are available at the BLM office in Lakeview, and at various local businesses.
