The Missouri River valley dominates the landscape surrounding the lake, and rolling prairie split by woody draws, can be seen for miles along the shoreline. Wildlife abounds on the project and the lake is a birdwatcher's paradise. Recreation opportunities include boating, fishing, camping, sailing, hunting, waterskiing, jet skiing and scuba diving.
