LAKELANDS TRAIL STATE PARK

Lakelands Trail State Park is one of four linear state parks in the Michigan State Park system that have been converted from abandoned railroad corridors. This trail currently is completed between Stockbridge and Pinckney and passes through wooded areas and rolling farmland. It is approximately 13-miles long and currently has a gravel type surface. Lakelands is designed for hiking, bicycling, and wheelchair use on the north side and horseback riding on the south side of the trail. Cross-country skiing is popular in winter. Motorized vehicles and hunting are prohibited. The DNR currently provides only emergency maintenance services and seeks governmental agencies to operate and maintain its linear park trails.
