Interlochen State Park is situated between two well known fishing and swimming lakes; Green Lake and Duck Lake.
The campground is closed for winter. Information about winter camping opportunities is available on the DNR web site.
The park was established as Michigan's first state park by the state Legislature in 1917, which paid $60,000 for the land. The name of the park was originally "Pine Park"; a 200-acre public park which was created to preserve the virgin pine stand for the people of Michigan. In 1928, the National Music Camp was established on the property adjoining the northern boundary of the park.
Location The park is located 15 miles southwest of Traverse City on M-137. Take US-31 west of Traverse City for seven miles to Interlochen, then go south on M-137 for two miles.

15 miles SW of Traverse City on M-137. Take US 31 W. of Traverse City for 7 miles to Interlochen, then go S. on M-137 for 2 miles.
